Sacrifice is an act of giving up something valued for the sake of something else regarded as more important or worthy. Whether big or small, if we give up something that is valuable to us, that is a sacrifice.
Instead of buying a brand new gadget or that latest line of make up or dining at that newly opened restaurant, why don’t we set aside some of our salary for the typhoon victims and let our own selfish desires wait a little longer. Instead of “window shopping” on your spare time, why not volunteer to help pack relief goods. Still keeping that favorite jacket you have not worn in years because you think someday you’ll go back to your “old” size, why not include it in your donation.
It can be your money, your time or simply the effort, what matters is we share something that is valuable to us and help out. For some, this may seem a simple gesture, but for our brothers and sisters who are in dire need, this goes a long way.
